Verus Research is searching for a Controls Engineering Intern to assist with the research and development of an improved gas/vacuum system for a plasma fusion device.
The Controls Engineering Intern will participate in the development of technical design solutions to complex problems that ultimately result in an improved gas system on the plasma fusion device. The successful applicant will also contribute to the design of the next-generation pulsed power controls system. This level of design and iteration will occur in a collaborative team environment that involves other engineering disciplines and our technical customers. This posting is for work in Albuquerque, NM, and is intended to be a summer 2023 appointment only.
The ideal candidate for the Controls Engineering Intern role will possess strong design and problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate complex ideas and provide innovative solutions. Success in this demanding role will stem from:
- U.S. citizenship
- Completion of at least 2 years’ study in an engineering degree program (electrical, mechanical, controls or similar); 3 years’ study highly desired
- Experience with circuit board design, modeling, and testing
- Experience with gas/vacuum systems highly desired
- Willingness to perform hands-on work
