Software Controls Engineer

Verus Research is searching for a Software Controls Engineer to support our expanding systems design and research and development needs across a broad array of technical areas, including pulsed power, high-power microwave devices, electromagnetic sensors, and electronic warfare.  Responsibilities span the range from low-level subsystem design to complex system integration, both at the hardware and firmware level.

The Software Controls Engineer will possess the leadership traits, communications skills, and experience required to address the challenges inherent in complex system designs.  This posting is for work in Albuquerque, NM.  Success in this demanding role will stem from:

  • U.S. citizenship
  • Holding (or being able to obtain) a Department of Defense security clearance
  • Bachelor’s degree (advanced degree preferred) in electrical engineering, computer science, or related discipline
  • 5+ years’ experience with C or C++, and Python
  • Experience with embedded microcontrollers and microprocessors, preferably ARM core
  • Experience with bare-metal RTOS and embedded Linux systems
  • Entry level understanding of peripherals (I2C, SPI, UART, PWM, etc.)
  • Highly desirable skills and experience include:  (1) mixed-signal and high-frequency PCB layout techniques; (2) 5+ years’ experience with FPGA (Verilog or VHDL); (3) well-developed knowledge of radar and wireless communications theory, operational principles, signal processing, and hardware-in-the-loop algorithm/software development; and (4) Familiarity with pulsed power and high-power microwave source systems
