Machine Learning Algorithm Developer

Verus Research is searching for a Machine Learning Algorithm Developer to perform research and development, conception, and software implementation of advanced statistics and machine learning algorithms with primary application to space systems.

The Machine Learning Algorithm Developer will make significant contributions to technical projects that require development and deployment of data-driven software relevant to automated, intelligent, autonomous systems, including for satellite fault detection and prediction. This work will require conducting both guided and independent research and the ability to work independently and within a team.

The ideal candidate for the Machine Learning Algorithm Developer position will possess strong research and critical thinking skills, demonstrate a deep domain understanding of mathematics and statistics, and be able to communicate technical concepts clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing. This posting is for work in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Success in this demanding role will stem from:

  • U.S. citizenship
  • Holding or being able to obtain a Department of Defense security clearance
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science, mathematics, statistics, or related field
  • 4+ years of professional experience developing and implementing machine learning algorithms, including pre-processing data, building supervised and unsupervised learning models, and assessing performance of regression and classification models
  • Ability to develop algorithms and implement in MATLAB®, Simulink, C++, or Python
  • Demonstrated experience in storing, processing, manipulating, and analyzing large quantities of data
  • Knowledge of spacecraft systems is highly desired
  • Software development experience, including experience designing user interfaces, a plus
  • Experience working in a cloud environment (AWS) desired
