Verus Research is searching for a Mechanical Engineering Intern to assist with system design and analysis in support of a compact pulsed power project. The Engineering Intern may perform a number of duties, including system requirements development, solid modeling, finite element analysis, high voltage bus work design, fabrication print development, and assembly of a mechanical test surrogate. The intern may also apply similar tools and techniques to other research projects. This posting is for work in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
The ideal candidate for the Mechanical Engineering Intern role will possess a strong mix of design, analytical, and hands-on skills, as well as the ability to communicate complex ideas and provide innovative solutions. Success in this demanding role will stem from:
- U.S. citizenship
- Completion of at least two years of study in a university mechanical engineering program or relevant engineering discipline
- Experience with SolidWorks® CAD software
- Experience with mechanical fabrication techniques
- Familiarity with electrical systems and electric fields
