Verus Research is searching for a Plasma Scientist to participate in research and development efforts across multiple technical areas, including plasma and beam-based radiation sources, high-current pulsed power machines, nuclear technologies, and complex system integration efforts.
The Plasma Scientist will participate in and lead analysis, design, and developmental testing of novel, plasma-based technologies. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with teams of engineers and scientists to achieve integrated outcomes for system development. The ideal candidate for the Plasma Scientist role will possess a strong mix of leadership traits, design and analytical skills, and the ability to communicate complex ideas and provide innovative solutions. Success in this demanding role will stem from:
- U.S. Citizenship
- Master’s degree or Ph.D. in physics, applied physics, nuclear engineering, electrical engineering or a related field
- 3+ years of experience performing experimental plasma physics and engineering in government, industry or academia
- Experience with numerical simulation tools such as MHD, PIC, electromagnetics, PSpice circuit simulation.
- Familiarity with vacuum electronics devices, including microwave sources and system integration, and operation of plasma-based technologies
