Senior Space Embedded Software Engineer

Join Verus Research and be part of an elite team that utilizes their creativity, critical thinking skills and state of the art technologies to create solutions that matter, every day!  Verus Research is searching for a Senior Space Embedded Software Engineer to perform research and development, conception, and implementation of algorithms leading to software implementable on custom boards while ensuring processing constraints and security requirements are satisfied in the area of advanced satellite flight software.

The Senior Space Embedded Software Engineer will implement software for a range of space-based applications, from machine learning processes to high-level planning functionality, including:

  • Developing embedded software in C, C++, Rust, or other modern languages implementable on computer boards for satellite systems.
  • Collaborating with algorithm designers to convert algorithms into efficient, secure, and reliable software capable of running on satellite processors.
  • Working closely with the hardware team to support board bring-up and integration testing.
  • Partnering with the communications team to define and build interfaces.
  • Having ownership of software products, including verification, testing, and writing documentation.

Success in this demanding role will stem from:

  • U.S. citizenship
  • Holding or being able to obtain a Department of Defense security clearance
  • A degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, or related field (advanced degree desired)
  • Demonstrated experience in developing software for embedded systems in C, C++, Rust, or another relevant software language
  • A track record of developing and testing embedded software for high-reliability, safety-critical, and fault-tolerant satellite systems
  • Domain knowledge in developing for field programmable gate arrays (FPGAs) and associated toolchains desired
  • Familiarity with common electronic components, reading circuit design schematics, and the ability to contribute to hardware designs desired
