Signal Processing Engineer

Verus Research is searching for a Signal Processing Engineer to support a growing portfolio of research and development programs blending the domains of directed energy and electronic warfare (EW).  This role will support an exceptional team of committed professionals who enjoy working together to create solutions that matter.

The Signal Processing Engineer will conceive, develop, and formulate advanced signal processing algorithms to support the integration of hardware-in-the-loop EW systems, radio frequency (RF) component and subsystems engineering, EW signal processing, and support the transition of these novel systems to higher levels of technology readiness. The candidate will also contribute to and manage efforts requiring an integrated approach to system development.

The ideal candidate for the Signal Processing Engineer position will possess a strong mix of leadership traits, design and analytical skills, and the ability to communicate complex ideas and provide innovative solutions.  Success in this demanding role will stem from:

  • U.S. citizenship
  • Holding or being able to obtain a Department of Defense security clearance
  • Master’s degree with 10+ years’ experience or Ph.D. with 8+ years’ experience in electrical engineering, computer science or related discipline
  • Knowledge of RF transmitter, receiver, and antenna design
  • Knowledge of embedded processors and digital hardware
  • Demonstrated familiarity with the use of electronic instrumentation test equipment such as vector signal generators/analyzers, network analyzers, spectrum analyzers and arbitrary waveform generators, as utilized in the context of EW and wireless communications applications
  • Areas of knowledge should include radar/wireless communication theory, digital and analog signal processing, hardware-in-the-loop algorithm/software development, and testing
  • Demonstrated familiarity with statistical and adaptive signal processing, channel equalization, adaptive filtering, detection, and estimation theory
  • Demonstrated experience with developing algorithms for Position, Navigation and Timing (PNT), signals intelligence (SIGINT), electronic intelligence (ELINT), and communications intelligence (COMINT) systems is preferred
  • Familiarity with operational aspects pertaining to airborne and space-based electronic warfare domain is preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and lead technical teams
