Verus Research, a New Mexico-based leader in advanced research and technology development and wholly owned subsidiary of Alabama-based Radiance Technologies, has secured a two-and-a-half year, $6.7 million award to support the Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD) in developing a data acquisition and processing system (DAS) for the U.S. Navy. This effort is funded by the Test Resource Management Center under the Training and Readiness Accelerator (TReX II) Other Transactional Authority.
This effort, referred to as the Ship Electromagnetic Acquisition System (SEAS), seeks to enable ship-board data acquisition of low-level continuous wave illumination (LLCWI) and high-level direct-drive pulses for electromagnetic pulse (EMP) survivability assessments. Verus Research will provide a capability to assess survivability of ships to nuclear threat induced environments, specifically EMP.
“The team will integrate data acquisition hardware and software for LLCWI and high-level direct drive pulses for EMP, and the software will enable control of DAS from the test center,” stated Dr. J. Mark Del Grande, chief technology officer for Verus Research. “This award further extends Verus Research’s long history in providing critical nuclear test domain capabilities to the Nation.”
