Verus Research is searching for a Software Developer to provide scientific software programming support.

The Software Developer will support the creation and maintenance of graphical user interfaces (GUIs) with data visualization and scientific simulation software written primarily in C++ using the Qt framework and with automation scripts in Python. Experience with web development in JavaScript/PHP or QML is desired, as well as experience in database development using MySQL or Microsoft SQL.  This work will require developing and updating software using the following software development environment tools:  Visual Studio, CMake, and Git.  This posting is for work in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

  • Holding or being able to obtain a Department of Defense security clearance
  • Bachelor’s degree(s) in computer science, math, or an engineering discipline
  • 3 or more years of experience working in general purpose programming languages, including Java™, Python™, C/C++, or C#
  • 2 or more years of experience developing GUIs in C++/Qt or C#
  • Experience with game or visualization development in Unity/C#
  • Experience in statistical methods and algorithm development using Matlab or Python™

Technical Editor

Verus Research is searching for a Technical Editor who can effectively communicate scientific ideas and outcomes pertaining to research and development (R&D) in the directed energy (DE) field.  No previous experience in DE is required.  However, candidates possessing a technical background in electrical engineering, physics, or similar disciplines are more likely to provide clear explanations of complex technical ideas to others within the scientific community.  This posting is for work in the Albuquerque, NM, area.

In addition to the academic training described above, the ideal candidate for the Technical Editor will be able to work well in a team and provide coherent reporting of technical concepts.  Success in this role will stem from the following characteristics:

  • U.S. citizen (mandatory)
  • Hold or be able to obtain a Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance (mandatory)
  • A familiarity with relevant technical areas in the academic or DoD R&D environments pertaining to RF and microwave measurements, testing, and analysis (highly desired)
  • S. degree in electrical engineering, applied physics, or other relevant engineering discipline (degree-holders in Journalism or English will also be considered if the applicant has documented technical experience in a physical lab environment) (highly desired)

Senior Electrical Engineer

Verus Research is searching for a Senior Electrical Engineer to perform research and development in the technical domains of directed energy (DE), radio frequency (RF) and microwave communications, and electronic warfare.  The Senior Electrical Engineer will perform high-fidelity modeling and simulation-based design and optimization of circuit and system components, experimental testing, and analysis to support the development of prototype systems of interest to our customers.  Anticipated responsibilities include program management, technical management, and serving as a senior test leader by guiding a team of junior engineers in support of customer-defined requirements.  This posting is for work in the Albuquerque, NM, area.

The ideal candidate for the Senior Electrical Engineer role will possess a strong mix of leadership traits, program and technical management experience, experimental and analytical skills, and the ability to communicate complex ideas and provide innovative solutions.  Success in this demanding role will stem from:

  • U.S. citizenship
  • Presently holding or being able to obtain a Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance
  • 10 or more years of experience working in relevant technical areas in a DoD research or academic environment
  • Advanced degree in electrical engineering, applied physics or other relevant engineering discipline
  • Demonstrated expertise in the design and operation of RF front-end systems, antenna and printed circuit board design and fabrication, RF and microwave measurements, RF propagation analysis, and outdoor RF testing

Prior experience with LabVIEW, MATLAB, CST Microwave Studio, HFSS or Mathematica is highly desired, as these applications pertain to laboratory-scale test instrument automation, signal processing, and data analysis
