Douglas C. (Doug) Wood is the Director of Laser Effects and Technologies for Verus Research. In this role, he leads Verus Research’s efforts in laser test and evaluation, software development, and modeling and simulation architectures. Since coming to Verus Research, he has served as Wargame Analyst, Team Lead, and the Technical Director for the Directed Energy Test and Evaluation portfolio.
Before joining Verus Research, Doug was the Director for UAS Services at Silent Falcon, a solar electric drone company based in the Albuquerque area. Prior to his commercial career, Doug served 6 years in the United States Marine Corps as an Intelligence Officer, filling numerous roles, including Instructor, Collections and Targeting Officer, and Regimental Intelligence Officer. He deployed to Iraq in 2015.
Doug has two baccalaureate degrees –- History, and International Studies: Comparative Religion — from the University of Washington.
