Control Systems Research Engineer

Verus Research is searching for a Control Systems Research Engineer to perform research & development, conception, and implementation of planning, control, and verification techniques applied to distributed and autonomous systems. This research will lie at the intersection of perception, communication, and control of advanced and networked systems.

The Control Systems Research Engineer will define all aspects of challenging problems and their associated solution requirements related to networked control systems; design and develop planning and control algorithms; and implement those control algorithms within the context of perception and communication constraints. The candidate will develop simulations for validation of algorithms and work with others to test algorithms on hardware platforms. The candidate will work independently and as part of a team to develop exciting advances in autonomous networked systems. The ideal candidate for the Control Systems Research Engineer role will possess strong mathematical skills and a background in some combination of dynamics and control theory, autonomous system development, optimization, robotics, and verification and validation. Success in this demanding position will stem from:

  • U.S. Citizen
  • Master’s degree with a minimum of three years of experience in the design of advanced control algorithms, or Doctorate degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, computer science or related field.
  • Proficiency in MATLAB®, Simulink, and other programming languages (e.g., C++, Python, etc.)
  • Knowledge of aerospace systems, in particular space systems, a plus
  • Embedded systems experience a plus
