Verus Research, an Albuquerque-based research and development company and wholly owned subsidiary of Alabama-based Radiance Technologies, announces the appointment of Doug Wood as Director of Laser Effects and Technologies and Kenny Cappadona as Director of Radio Frequency Applications and Effects.
“Verus Research is excited to see two of our existing team members step into important, new leadership roles,” said Dan Treibel, chief operating officer for Verus Research. “Doug and Kenny have demonstrated superior leadership over the last several years and I look forward to the impact they will have leading these transformative business portfolios for Verus Research’s team members and customers.”
Wood joined Verus Research in 2019 and has held several leadership positions, including director of the Radio Frequency (RF) Applications and Effects Portfolio and team lead for RF Modeling and Simulation, and Wargame Analyst. Prior to joining Verus Research, he was the director for UAS Services at Silent Falcon and served 6 years in the United States Marine Corps as an Intelligence Officer. Wood holds two baccalaureate degrees from the University of Washington in history and international studies.
As director of Laser Effects and Technologies, Wood will lead the company’s newest technical area, guiding strategy, program execution, and custom instrumentation development to expand Verus Research’s laser effects capabilities.

Cappadona joined Verus Research in 2022 and has served as team lead for the Effects Group within the RF Applications and Effects portfolio, supporting high-power microwave testing, electronic warfare, and related programs. He holds a B.S. degree in electrical engineering from Tulane University and has more than 21 years of experience in failure analysis, reliability engineering, systems qualification, and directed energy test and evaluation.
As director of RF Applications and Effects, Cappadona will provide technical leadership for the organization’s RF portfolio, overseeing the development and execution of advanced technologies that address current and emerging customer challenges.
